Diagnosed at 17 with the progressive rare disease Friedreich’s Ataxia, Kyle Bryant has spent his entire life since diagnosis raising awareness in an effort to help find meaningful treatment to improve and extend the lives of those living with FA.
Kyle met Sean Baumstark and they dreamed of improving the lives of those living with FA. On the precipice of the most important breakthrough in FA treatment, Kyle, Sean and their supporters searching for care are forced to overcome doubt within the medical community and difficult standards from the FDA. But for this team, there’s no quit in finding care for those suffering.
Having previously taken on several cross-state bike rides, in an effort to bring the need for treatment to a fever pitch, Kyle and team take on their biggest challenge yet: Cycling to the peak of the highest paved road in the world – 19,024 feet along the Uming La Road in the Indian Himalayas. Along the way, Kyle discovers something bigger than himself: the curative power of community.
This documentary follows Kyle’s personal journey, the story of the families affected by FA, and the inspiring voices racing to help in the global fight for the first treatment for Friedreich’s Ataxia.
